Fried Chicken & Waffles

- Waffle Iron
Ingredients
- 2.5 lbs Chicken
- Vegetable Oil
- 1 Tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 Tsp Seasoned Salt
- 1 Tsp Onion Powder
- 1 Tsp Pepper
- 1.5 Cups Flour
Waffle Ingredients
- 3 Cups Belguim Waffle Mix Substitute - Pancake Mix
Instructions
- Mix flour, seasoned salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder together in a large bag. Set aside
- Pour oil into medium frying pan, filling to half full. Heat over medium/high until hot enough for frying (375 degrees F as measured on a thermometer)
- Rinse Chicken, and place in bag of seasoning.
- Shake bag making sure to coat all chicken peices with the mixture
- Add chicken to hot grease, and cook on both sides until crispy. (usually 10-15 minutes per side, depending on chicken size)
Waffles
- Plug in Waffle Iron and heat warm until ready
- Mix waffle batter (as per instructions on box)
- Add batter into Iron until golden brown
Notes
The difference between Belgium waffle and traditional American-style waffle? The main difference is the use of egg whites. In Belgium Waffles, egg whites are whipped until stiff before adding them to the batter. This makes the waffles light and fluffy on the inside, and crisp on the outside.
