Spicy Garlic Cookout Wings
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs Raw chicken wings, joined or separated about 16 wings
- 4 tbsp Unsalted butter
- 5 cloves Garlic
- 3 cups Hot Sauce
- No-salt/low-salt all purpose seasoning Optional - to marinade the wings beforehand
Instructions
- Clean chicken wings very well and if you want, season them with a few dashes of low or no-salt all-purpose seasoning.
- Set aside in the fridge until it's time for them to be cooked.
- Mince garlic until it almost becomes a paste. Set aside.
- Slowly heat butter in a medium-sized sauce pan until it's completely melted and starts to simmer.
- Add garlic and continue to let simmer for 30-60 seconds until fragrant.
- Pre-heat your oven if you're cooking them in one or fire up your grill.
- Pour in hot sauce and stir until butter, garlic, and hot sauce are uniformly blended.
- Simmer, uncovered,on low for 15-35 minutes (depending on how thick you want it), stirring occasionally. Use a splash screen to reduce splatter messes while allowing the steam to escape.
- Cook wings in the oven or on the grill.
- If using a gas grill, cook them at 400-degrees Fahrenheit for about 12-15 minutes with the grill lid down.
- Then, flip them over and baste with the warm sauce and allow them to cook for another 5 minutes before turning them over and basting them again. Repeat until wings are fully cooked (internal temperature of 165-degrees Fahrenheit), about 25 minutes in total.
- Serve them with anything you want - I like them with steamed broccoli for a healthy lunch or dinner.
